Mr. Urquhart

Interesting article that follows on from Robert Urquhart's lecture, and also a couple of the others I've had this semester.

Sperm

A re-design for a poster project at uni. We had to create a poster based on our opinion of a recent news story. This poster is for an article about conservative views on inbreeding stopping the number of families one donor is allowed to father being increased to make better use of the existing donors, or something like that. It was hard to have any sort of strong feelings one way or the other. This  re-design replaces the god awful mess I had to show at the crit.

Semester A

Well, it's practically the end of semester A and so a recap of the time since September is in order:

1.  splashed out on a Canon SLR camera utilising the magical invention of the overdraft
2. had a lecture from Craig Oldham from The Chase, Jonathon Barnbrook, Robert Urquhart from Grafik and Si Scott.
3.  completed 10 projects
4. set up a blog
5.  became a type perfectionist
6.  printed 150 annual reports for free
7.  worked on my first live briefs
8.  had two free lunches
9.  completely covered a piece of  2m x 1m MDF with doodles
10. felt pride, confidence, jealousy, shame, embarrassment and a lot of stress

1st Year

Just some random pieces of work I've found one my computer. The first is a box which I pulped in a blender and the second was a concept, for one of a series of posters for a 1st year project, which I took a fancy to. Oh and a photo thrown in for good measure.

Heres some music that I've been listening to a lot lately.

Bass, blips and beats.

Trumpets and funk.

Seriously underrated. Below is one of my favourite videos from last year and also a great song.

Whats a Girl To Do

Daily photo

Heres a photo I took over the summer.

And heres a poster/sticker concept that popped in to my head one sunny day in August. It's going to be developed in to album artwork at some point in the near future. The switch appears at the size you'd expect it to be thus creating the joke.

Images

This is really just a selection of cool images that I've collected over the past year. Some of it is just nifty and others are really inspiring and formed the basis of some of my graphics work.

Heres some photos, one newish, one old.

This was taken on Christmas Eve 07 at like 8 in the morning.

This photo was taken in August 08.

I'm going to try and add a new photo everyday.
Also, give these guys a listen:

2nd year work

Heres some of my graphics work to counteract all the music I've posted so far:

This was based on a piece of text written by my tutor about a fictional way of how jellybeans are made involving regular and irregular nanoquarks being sorted before being bombarded with chemicals and compressed in to jellybeans. To illustrate this I created a fictional machine that supposedly made jellybeans. I bought a second hand hoover to act as the "suction" device to harvest the nanoquarks from the air. It would also double up to make the orange liquid bubble in the chemical tubes. It was such a fun project to do and made lots and lots of noise.

This shows all the journeys I took around Lincoln in one week in November.

So I went...

and did it and got a blog with this being the first post and I'm not going to pretend that the reason for doing this isn't because the man in the lecture today told me to. I blatantly am. So heres a few songs I like:
